How to distinguish the ball mill ball hardness

Ball mill ball is a kind of grinding media which breaks or grinds the material in the ball mill. According to the production method divided into: forging steel ball, hammering steel ball, rolling  steel ball,bearing steel ball.

No matter what kind of production mode and what kind of material the steel ball is made of, there are two important indicators for judging whether the steel ball is wear-resisting: the hardness of the steel ball (HRC) and the crushing rate of the steel ball (%).

1. Ball mill steel ball hardness (HRC) is tested by rockwell hardness tester (model no. : HR-150A).Ball mill steel ball after heat treatment oil quenching process hardness (HRC) at a low temperature of 58 degrees above;Steel ball hardness (HRC) of ordinary ball mill without oil quenching is between 45 and 54.

2. The crushing rate of steel ball in ball mill is tested by ball drop testing machine and impact testing machine.If we want to measure the crushing rate of steel ball accurately, it is more accurate to use the weighing method after the clearance of the ball mill.

According to the experience of cement and mine users at home and abroad, when the ball hardness (HRC) must be more than 58, and the crushing rate of the ball in the use process is less than 0.5%, the product quality of this kind of ball mill ball is judged to be reliable.If the ball hardness (HRC) is less than 56 degrees, because the hardness is lower, its wear resistance is poor (wear is higher), the amount of steel ball to be added is also larger.
